How to test the LoyalGenie Referral Program

Once you are done with Installation & Quick Setup, you can start testing the LoyalGenie Referral Program.

By default, LoyalGenie comes with a set of default values that can be changed during Onboarding or afterward. Those default values are designed to get the Referral Program up and running in no time.

However, before the Referral Program goes live, store owners need to test the Referral program to make sure everything is set up according to their needs - it also means they need to test the Referral flow, as well. This article will show you how to test the LoyalGenie Referral Program.

Check the Fraud Settings

LoyalGenie comes with automated Fraud prevention that has a set of rules designed to protect the Referral Program and prevent any abuse. There are two types of fraud prevention rules.

• Self-referral rules: these rules are meant to stop advocates from using their own referral links.
• System rules: these rules are meant to protect the Referral program from fraud, which is why they are applied automatically and cannot be turned off.

Disable the Self-referral rules

By default, all Self-referral rules are turned ON. These rules are designed to stop advocates from using their own referral links. For example, any referral attempts coming from the same IP address or the same email will show an error message.

To prevent this from happening during testing, make sure to disable all Self-referral rules, as shown below.

Test the Referral flow

Once the Self-referral rules are disabled, you can continue testing the referral flow. This can be done in a few quick steps.

1. Get your referral link
   1. Paste an email into the Become a member section of the Loyalty Widget

   2. Paste an email into the Ready to get rewarded? section of the Loyalty page.

      

      
      
2. Copy the referral link and paste it into an incognito/private browser window.
3. Enter the friend's email address to receive a reward.
4. Copy the coupon code for the reward.

5. Use the coupon code during checkout.
6. Complete the order in WooCommerce to send the advocate reward.

Once you are done testing the Referral flow, make sure to turn the Self-referral rules back ON if you want to stop advocates from using their own referral links.
