Understanding the basics of Referral flow
What is a Referral flow?
A referral flow refers to the process of a member referring a friend or family member to an online store using a unique referral link.
There are two important roles in the referral flow:
- Advocate - a member who shares their referral link with someone else
- Friend - a visitor using that referral link
The referral flow typically starts when a Visitor, an unknown website customer, visits an online store and signs up for the Referral program. Once the Visitor is signed up, they get their own referral link and become an Advocate.
When the referred Friend clicks on the referral link, they are prompted to sign up to the Referral program in order to get a reward coupon. This coupon can be used on their next purchase.
Once the purchase is completed, the Advocate receives a reward coupon for referring someone, which closes the referral flow.
